Description

In federal practice areas like immigration, determining which rules apply can be complicated. The tribunal might have its own rules, and the practice itself is multijurisdictional in nature. This program will help lawyers determine which rules apply and also compare and contrast the federal and state rules. Additionally, we will address the bar complaint requirement that is unique to the practice of immigration law.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Which rules apply?
  • State and federal rules
  • Rules applying in federal immigration practice
  • Duty to consult with clients
  • Matter of Lozada
  • Conflicts of Interest
