DescriptionThe Immigrant Investor Program, also known as “EB-5,” was created by Congress in 1990 to stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by immigrant investors by creating a new commercial enterprise or investing in a troubled business. There are 10,000 EB-5 immigrant visas available annually. In 1992 and regularly reauthorized since then, 3,000 EB-5 visas are also set aside for investors in Regional Centers designated by USCIS based on proposals for promoting economic growth. EB-5 is a complex visa, and the EB-5 application process can be very intimidating. There are multiple steps that require professional assistance in order to successfully secure an EB-5 Visa. Understanding these steps and working with a team of highly-qualified EB-5 professionals is crucial to success in the EB-5 arena. This CLE program will cover the background of EB-5, how to get into EB-5 if you are a developer or business owner, what is involved in vetting projects before they enter the EB-5 arena, the differences between regional center cases and direct investment, or non-RC cases, the typical investment structure, and the components of an EB-5 compliant business plan.
