DescriptionThe Cuban Missile Crisis has just passed its 60th anniversary. It has been said that this crisis is the most examined crisis of American history. Was the positive ending a result of wise decision-making, careful mediation, or just simply luck? The crisis had many actors and held the attention of the entire world during those fateful days in October. This course will examine the negotiations that transpired during the crisis. The actors and their decisions will be highlighted. What lessons can we learn from the crisis that will enhance our understanding of mediation and negotiation process? Insights from this discussion will be of benefit to attorneys who mediate, as well as for those who counsel their clients about negotiations, litigation strategy, and trial preparation. Lecturer BioMartin Rosenfeld, Esq.Martin Rosenfeld graduated, Cum Laude, from the New England School of Law in 1982. He has worked as an Assistant Attorney General for nine years in Connecticut. Martin is also an ordained rabbi (Yeshiva University, 1975). He has incorporated mediation work in both his roles as a rabbi and attorney since 1996. Martin trained in mediation in the Center for Conflict Resolution (Chicago,IL) and at the Mediation Training and Consultation Institute (Ann Arbor, MI.). He currently lives in Fair Lawn, NJ where he conducts a mediation practice and is on the New Jersey roster of family and commercial mediators. Martin is a member of the Bars in NJ, CT, IL and NY.
