Description

Fraud prevention and underwriting compliance are critical components of today's real estate transactions. As fraud schemes become more sophisticated and regulatory expectations continue to evolve, attorneys, title professionals, and other real estate practitioners must understand how to identify risks before they jeopardize a transaction.

This CLE program will examine common fraud threats affecting real estate transactions, including identity theft, forged documents, wire transfer fraud, title fraud, and emerging schemes involving artificial intelligence and deepfake technology. The presentation will focus on practical underwriting considerations, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies designed to help practitioners detect warning signs and prevent losses.

Participants will learn how underwriters evaluate transaction risks, the importance of verification and due diligence procedures, and best practices for maintaining compliance throughout the transaction process. The program will also discuss the role of title insurance, common claim scenarios, and how attorneys can work effectively with title insurers and underwriters to protect clients and facilitate successful closings.
